The NewsCord Publishing guide

NewsCord Publishing brings source research, article writing, annotated video and newsletters into one publication workspace. Start with a question, build the evidence and review the finished work before it reaches readers.

Research an article as you write

Save an article, then open Research beside the draft. Ask for sources, add public URLs or paste source text, and compare the saved evidence. Follow up to test a claim, find gaps or look for counter-evidence. If your workspace offers Keep digging, use it to continue discovery in bounded batches.

Ask for a cited finding, bar chart, line chart or relationship map. Inspect its exact source passages, figures and limitations before inserting it into the article. Each answer uses a selected portion of the evidence, so a saved source collection is not a guarantee that every source was read for every answer. Research credits are shared by your publication and stop at your plan limit.

Open your articles

Make a captioned video with evidence annotations

Open Video beside Research in a saved article. Prepare a spoken script from the article and its saved evidence, or edit scenes yourself. For each scene, choose a quotation or chart, a literal spoken cue and an underline, circle or arrow. Choose an exact phrase or chart label for the pen to mark.

  1. Record your camera and microphone, or upload audio or video. Each recording can be up to 3 minutes and 50 MiB.
  2. Check the transcript. The original recording supplies the word timings; missing or ambiguous scene cues need correction.
  3. Watch the preview. Your recording appears alongside the evidence, with captions and marks appearing at the spoken cues.
  4. Choose landscape or portrait, confirm your source and timing review, then save. Download MP4 where the browser supports it, or WebM, plus a separate SRT caption file.

AI script preparation and transcription use the available plan allowances. Export runs in real time in the browser, so keep the workspace open until it finishes. The recording stays private to authorised article staff. A video draft does not publish the article or send anything to readers.

Publish under your own name

Write with text, images and source quotations in the article editor. Set the title, byline, summary and cover, then review the article checks and preview. Publishing is a separate action. Writer and above include your own domain; review current plan details before choosing.

Publishing has a dedicated sign-in and a writing-focused workspace. If you also need directed campaigns, supporter contacts and campaign email tools, Action Studio includes the publishing toolkit with every campaign plan.

Send an article edition or newsletter

Write a standalone newsletter, or use an article’s Send to subscribers card. Email consent is separate from reader access. The audience check excludes people who cannot receive an edition and checks again before delivery. Interactive charts and protected media link to the web article. Review the email allowance, final audience and preview before confirming a send.

Open Newsletters

Bring your work. Keep it portable.

Preview subscriber CSV files and article files before importing. Articles arrive as private drafts for review. You need permission to email imported subscribers; unsubscribed and suppressed addresses stay protected. Imported paid status records the previous platform and does not transfer billing.

Export articles, subscriber records and membership information when you need them. Exports preserve newsletter consent separately from reader access and omit payment credentials. For migration or account help, contact hello@newscord.org.
