Complain to the Associated Press
Each supporter files an accuracy complaint through AP's own Contact the Newsroom form, framed under AP's Statement of News Values and Principles. The wire copy AP publishes is reprinted by hundreds of outlets, so one correction there travels a long way.
Associated Press complaint5 credits per delivery
What it files
A personalised accuracy complaint about one AP story.
To whom
The Associated Press newsroom, through the form AP publishes for the purpose.
What the campaign supplies
- The article link.
- A subject line and the complaint template.
What the supporter supplies
- Their first and last name.
- Their email address.
- A phone number and a country, because AP's form requires both.
Consent
The supporter agrees that the complaint is submitted through AP's own newsroom form in their name, carrying the details that form requires.
Credits per delivery
5 credits. One delivery is one supporter's copy, so a campaign that writes to three recipients on a supporter's behalf draws three deliveries.
How it is delivered
AP's State dropdown lists US states only, so a supporter outside the US is filed with AP's own headquarters state, New York, rather than being blocked from complaining about a wire service that publishes worldwide. Every supporter's copy is personalised from the campaign's template: the subject is rewritten for each send, and the body's arrangement varies per participant, so a thousand filings are not one document a thousand times.
