Campaign channel
Ofcom complaint tool for campaigns
Each supporter files their own standards complaint about one broadcast with the UK communications regulator. You name the broadcaster, the programme and the date it went out.
Ofcom complaint5 credits per delivery
What it files
A personalised standards complaint about one broadcast.
To whom
Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator, which sets the Broadcasting Code.
What the campaign supplies
- The broadcaster, searched from the outlet directory.
- The programme title.
- The broadcast date.
- A subject line and the complaint template.
What the supporter supplies
- Their first and last name.
- Their email address.
- Their UK postcode, which Ofcom's complaint form requires.
Consent
The supporter agrees that their complaint body, name, email and postcode go to Ofcom under Ofcom's privacy policy, and may be shared with the broadcaster.
Credits per delivery
5 credits. One delivery is one supporter's copy, so a campaign that writes to three recipients on a supporter's behalf draws three deliveries.
How it is delivered
Ofcom writes to the supporter directly to acknowledge the complaint. Every supporter's copy is personalised from the campaign's template: the subject is rewritten for each send, and the body's arrangement varies per participant, so a thousand filings are not one document a thousand times.
